PAWTUCKET EVENTS LAST WEEK

This week in Pawtucket, our community came together to celebrate, support, and strengthen the bonds that make our city vibrant.

We were thrilled to celebrate the 9th Anniversary of the Renaissance Adult Day Health Center, a cornerstone in providing crucial support to the elderly and adults with disabilities throughout Rhode Island.

The impact of this center extends far beyond our city’s borders, and we’re proud to have such an institution serving our residents. Additionally, our heartfelt congratulations go out to Stella Carrera, who was sworn into the Board of Canvassers. Her dedication to civic duty is a testament to the strong leadership within our community, ensuring that Pawtucket continues to thrive.

Our commitment to education and youth development has never been stronger. Significant improvements at Francis J. Varieur Elementary School are underway, with upgrades including new playground features, ADA-compliant bathrooms, a remodeled library, and roof enhancements.

These developments are part of our ongoing mission to provide top tier learning environments for our students. In addition, the City of Pawtucket has invested over $20,000 through the Community Development Block Grant to support various youth initiatives.

These funds are being used for school robotics programs, educational outings, and providing free clothing to those in need, emphasizing our focus on fostering the growth and well-being of our younger residents these that remind us of the close-knit community we have in Pawtucket—one that values and cherishes its members, young and old alike.

Community spirit was in full display at the All-Star Athletes 2024 Color Run at Slater Park, a vibrant event that brought together participants and supporters in celebration of youth athletics. We’re grateful to everyone who joined us for this fantastic cause, highlighting the importance of physical activity and teamwork for our young athletes. This week also saw a heartwarming moment as our city’s electrical inspector, Phil Forcier, received a delightful birthday surprise from his grandson, John, complete with a card, cupcakes, and an adorable dinosaur balloon. It’s moments like these that remind us of the close-knit community we have in Pawtucket—one that values and cherishes its members, young and old alike.
