THIS WEEK
As construction of Tidewater Stadium progresses, we remain committed to creating more green spaces and enhancing public access to our beautiful riverfront. The new riverwalk and pedestrian bridge will improve walkability, providing a vital east-west connection for residents to access Tidewater Landing. The new infrastructure will also include a stormwater park that addresses both environmental and recreational needs, and a proposed stairway from Pleasant Street to Taft Street to facilitate pedestrian movement.
This project is not just about enhancing our city’s aesthetics. It’s about boosting our local economy and providing for our residents. By improving infrastructure and creating inviting public spaces, we are attracting more visitors and potential investors to Pawtucket. The increased foot traffic and economic activity will benefit local businesses, create jobs, and ultimately, contribute to the prosperity of our community.
This development marks a significant step forward in our efforts to make Pawtucket an even better place to live and work, and I am thrilled to see the initiative progress. Thank you, all, for your continued support and dedication to our community.
Sincerely,
Mayor Donald R. Grebien
This week, Pawtucket has shown its dedication to community enhancement and inclusivity through a variety of impactful initiatives. We are thrilled to announce that the City has invested over $200,000 from the Community Development Block Grant
Program into senior services. This significant funding boost is enhancing programming, care, and transportation for our seniors, ensuring they continue to receive the support they deserve. In addition, our commitment to supporting those in need extends to victims of crime and sexual assault, with programs like Day One and Family Service RI also funded by the grant. These services are crucial for providing counseling and support to our community members.
The vibrancy of Pawtucket’s cultural and community life was on full display this week. Congratulations are in order for 12-year-old Dante Muriel from Galego Court, who won the HAI Group Playground Safety Poster Contest! Dante’s creative efforts in promoting playground safety are a testament to the engaged and proactive spirit of our youth. Additionally, we’re excited to see great progress at M. Virginia Cunningham Elementary School’s playground, where a transformation is underway to create a safe and enjoyable space for our students
As we continue to celebrate and advance our city’s initiatives, this week we proudly raised the flag for Disability Pride Month, reaffirming our commitment to accessibility and inclusivity as we honor 34 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The City expresses thier heartfelt thanks to Real Action Motivates Progress R.A.M.P for their work instrumental in organizing this event. It was truly humbling to host only the third Disability Pride Flag Raising Ceremony in the country.
