Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a glass blower? Come to the Sandwich Glass Museum for your own up-close and personal encounter with working molten glass! While the class is aimed at beginners with no prior experience, you can also have fun coming back to try new techniques.

The Glass Experience is suitable for persons aged 12 and up.

$150 per person / $275 for two people / $400 for three.

Please note that the 3-person experience starts 45 minutes earlier so everyone has sufficient time at the furnace.

You will be working with molten glass so please dress appropriately. Specifically, please wear:

Closed toe shoes. No sandals, flip flops, etc.

Long pants & socks, no synthetics. Jeans are ok.

Long sleeve shirt, cotton. Again, no synthetics.

Long hair should be tied back.

A bandana or sweat band is optional but can be useful.

Please drink plenty of fluids before you come and keep hydrated while you are in the studio.

Come a bit early so you have time to sign the waiver and get situated before the experience begins. If you booked a solo or duo experience please come 10 minutes early, and if you booked for three persons, please arrive 45 minutes before the published start time to give you 15 minutes to get situated before the 30 minute earlier start time.

Who Can Attend

You must be at least 12 years old to be admitted to the studio area and handle the tools and glass. Children 11 and under are welcome to come watch, but must be accompanied by an adult who supervises them on the other side of the studio barrier.

If you have concerns about mobility, dexterity, or sight limitations, please notify the studio in advance so we can make accommodations.

What To Expect

You will be seated next to the furnace and coached by our expert glass blower on how to safely work with molten glass, then guided through the process of creating your own keepsake. Objects created during the Glass Experience can be picked up the next day after overnight annealing, and shipping can be arranged for a fee.

Classes start promptly at the stated hour, so please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes beforehand in order to fill out the liability waiver.

Class size is 1-3 people. If there are 3 people signed up we will ask you all to come 30 minutes earlier than the stated start time, in order to give everyone attending a full 30 minutes before the annealing oven needs to be shut down for the night.

What to Wear

Closed toed shoes are required for participation in the Glass Experience. In addition to closed toe shoes, please wear comfortable clothing, preferably cotton or other natural fibers, and bring something to tie back long hair. Avoid overly loose clothing or dangling accessories such as scarves and long necklaces. It will be fairly warm, so feel free to wear shorts and a T-shirt.

Cancellation Policy

If your plans change, we would be happy to refund your purchase if you cancel 7 days or more before your reservation. If your plans change in the 7 days prior to the booking, we suggest that you try to reschedule.
