The Four Corner Arts Center invites you to wander through the oasis that is The 29thAnnual Outdoor Sculpture Park Exhibition “Ars Terra” featuring installations by visiting artist, Peter Morse as well as sculptures from the permanent collection.
The Artist Reception for “Ars Terra” will be July 20th at 3:00 PM at the Meeting House Porch located at 3850 Main Road, Tiverton.
The installation will be in the Sculpture grounds from July 1 – October 31st. The reception will coincide with the South Coast Artist Open Studio Tour.

PETER MORSE: ARS TERRA
A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), the sculptor, Peter Morse started his career as assistant to Donald Lipski in New York City.
From there he fine-tuned his sculpting talent and honed his exceptional expertise with patinas as an enlargement technician at Tallix Foundry in Beacon, New York where he worked with artists Nancy Graves, Frank Stella, Roy Lichtenstein and Peter Haines.
Morse began showing his work in Europe in the early 1990’s, a natural progression for the German-speaking artist whose mother is from Pforzheim, Germany.
His work is inspired by and has been showcased in some of the world’s most beautiful cities including Vienna and London. Guided by an influence of Surrealism he works with an impetuous form of expression, at once distinct and calculated in execution ,and also playful and carefree.
Bronze pieces that unite disparate forms in a seamless flowing manner, with the patina as a strong influence engaging the viewer, almost to distract from the images melded together as one form.
Many of his small works are caricatures, maquettes for larger scale works, his mastery of form making and seamless artistry of working Bronze, translates when viewed as potential sculptures whose size could be monumental in scale.
Paintings and works on paper are of an abstract nature, a discovery of form and color allowing a flexibility in interpretation. Color and texture of materials combine in a myriad of abstraction and definitive image making. Broad, strong and emotive intentions are clearly visible and retain his playful surrealist influences.
