“Attleboro Firefighter Paul Jacques, Massachusetts State Coordinator for the Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN), recently accepted a $1,500 donation to the FCSN from Evelyn Blackmon, Human Resource Director of V.H. Blackinton & Co. Inc. in Attleboro Falls.
Blackinton donates 5 percent of the proceeds from their Breast Cancer Awareness product line to raise money for and bring awareness to the fight against cancer. The product line consists of the company’s most popular Fire, Police, and Sheriff badges in a vibrant pink finish with custom designed cancer awareness seals, lapel pins, and commendation bars.”
“Thankfully this much needed donation couldn’t have come at a better time,” said Paul Jacques, FCSN MA State Director. “Occupational Cancer is claiming the lives of more Fire Fiighters than any other cause, including fires and other on-scene incidents.
This month, January 2024 is Fire Fighter Cancer Awareness Month when leading Fire Service organizations educate Fire Fighters about prevention and survival. The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) and Fire Fighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN) have partnered together to deliver such targeted education, best practices, and resources to reduce the impact of cancer on Fire Fighters,” Jacques said.
