$132 Million Capital Improvement Plan for Providence
Dear Friends,
I am thrilled to share a significant milestone in our journey to enhance the vibrancy and resilience of our beloved city. Today, we officially signed my Administration’s first Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), a comprehensive roadmap charting $132 million of strategic infrastructure investments over the next two fiscal years. This plan revolves around four essential categories:
Public Works: Responding directly to the concerns expressed by our community in the 2023 Community Satisfaction Survey, the CIP allocates $26 million for sidewalk repairs and Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility enhancements. Over $61 million is also earmarked for road maintenance, street repair, and resurfacing over the next five years. A substantial $35 million yearly is dedicated to sewers and stormwater management, totaling $51,250,000 in public works investments.
Public Property: In order to deliver top-notch services to residents, we need FY24 CIP reflects my Administration’s dedication to improving the local quality of life, investing in our infrastructure and addressing key concerns raised by residents.
Together, we will make Providence the world-class city we all know it can be.
Sincerely,
Brett Smiley
