In this episode, Konnie interviews author and retired teacher Judith Ferrara, at TidePool Bookshop in Worcester, to discuss her new biography “A Feast of Losses: Yetta Dine and her Son, the Poet Stanley Kunitz.” They review Stanley’s traumatic upbringing in Worcester, the influence that had on his later work, and reflect on his relative obscurity today, outside of poetry circles, despite being twice honored as US Poet Laureate. They discuss what drew her to center the book on the neglected but vital perspective of Stanley’s immigrant mother Yetta, from her recently recovered writings, and discuss the lengthy process of historical research that goes into thorough non-fiction. Senior Speak is a WCCA TV program for seniors and by seniors, hosted by community activist Edith Morgan. Edith welcomes Linda Wincek-Moore and Jose Curet from the Worcester Senior Center to discuss the services and programming offered there through the holidays and into the new year – from health and fitness groups, art classes, language lessons, and the Cultural Meal program, which offers seniors diverse cuisines from day-to-day. Senior Speak airs on WCCA TV, Cable Channel 194 in Worcester, on Tuesdays at 12:30 PM and Wednesdays at 12 PM
