THANKSGIVING THRU CHRITMAS

Enjoy Christmas at Linden Place Mansion this Holiday Season

BRISTOL—From Thanksgiving weekend through Christmas, Linden Place opens its doors for a festive celebration of the season. The many holiday-themed events throughout the month offer visitors a glimpse of the kind of gracious holiday celebrations that have taken place at the mansion. Visitors to the 1810 mansion can take in the historic landmark’s decked out halls, attend one of our live concerts in the historic ballroom, catch Bristol Theater Company’s performance of A Christmas Carol, enjoy a candlelight tour of the mansion and join in song when the Voices of Christmas Victorian carolers perform on the 2013 year-old home’s front steps

“In the more than 200 years since Linden Place was built, Christmas has evolved from a quiet, religious holiday to a retail extravaganza,” said Susan Battle, Linden Place’s executive director. “This year, we wanted to give people an opportunity to take a break from the holiday’s hectic pace, relax for a few minutes, and return to the simple beauty and joys of the season.”

Tenor and pianist, Michael DiMucci will perform at Linden Place on Friday, December 8 at 7:00pm. For those who prefer an afternoon concert, DiMucci will do an encore performance on Saturday, December 9 at 2:00pm. These fireside concerts in the carriage house ballroom are a perennial sellout with a mix of classical numbers and Christmas standards.

Also that weekend, Linden Place celebrates Bristol’s Christmas Festival on Saturday, December 9th at 1pm with a live performance of The Voices of Christmas Victorian Carolers on the front steps of Linden Place Mansion. This performance is free and fun for the whole family.  Tours of the mansion are ½ price and $10 for a family throughout the festival weekend.

The following week, December 15th-17th, Bristol Theater Company will take residence in the ballroom with their performance of “A Christmas Carol – A Play with Music”. This traditional holiday story will warm everyone’s Christmas season.

Throughout December, get a glimpse of Christmas past at Linden Place Mansion’s Candlelight Tour. As you stroll through the decorated mansion rooms of the 1810 Federal home, you will learn all about the five generations of the DeWolf-Colt families who lived here and how Christmas was celebrated in Bristol in the 19th and early 20th centuries. During the one-hour guided tour, you are surrounded by elegant decorations and a towering Christmas tree in the Gothic conservatory, all candlelit for the perfect holiday feel. Bring the family for an evening you won’t forget!
