TEN MILE RIVER WATERSHED

Good Morning Friends of the Ten Mile River Watershed,

October is a happening month in our watershed. Here is what is going on.

Our coat drive is opening up on October 10th and will be running through the week of Thanksgiving. We are collecting new and gently used winter clothing. These items will be handed out to those in need on Black Friday to help our neighbors stay warm this winter. More details on the exchange will be coming. If you can help with donations, please donate your items at one of our drop off sites:

Attleboro Senior Center

Attleboro Library

Purple Rooster Cafe

All items should be dropped off during regular business hours. We hope to add more drop off locations within the coming days/weeks. Please check our Facebook page for updates. For more information, email tenmilefriends@gmail.com or call 401-578-2746.

We are inviting everybody to explore the Bungay River on a hike to promote a Wild and Scenic designation for this special waterway. We will be meeting by the North Attleboro Fish Hatchery on October 15th at 10:00 AM. From there, we will hike along the river in the harder to reach areas. We will explore what makes the Bungay River different and unique to our watershed and our area. Plan on hiking up to 5 miles. Plan accordingly.

We will be leading lantern tours of Dodge Family Cemetery on October 26th. Meet at Fisher Avenue in Attleboro and bring a battery powered lantern. We will walk out to Dodge Island and discuss the ongoing preservation efforts in the burial ground and will discuss the history of Dodegville and the people who made it happen, some of which rest on the island. Tours are at 6:30 PM and 8:00 PM. Each tour will take about an hour and will require light walking. Please register by emailing tenmilefriends@gmail.com.

We hope to see you this fall!
