RHODE ISLAND DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

With Equity Focus, High-Priority, High-Impact Facility Investments Make a Difference!

Every child deserves to learn in a world-class facility! This month marks one year since we expanded the Facility Equity Initiative, which aimed to better support historically underserved communities! Last September, we announced $30 million in additional funding for school districts with the greatest need to help bring their educational facilities into the 21st century. We know #OurKids deserve only the best learning spaces to thrive. That’s why we launched the innovative program to invest in high-priority, high-impact projects that will make a difference for students and staff. Check out how Calcutt Middle School in Central Falls benefited from these funds, and head to our website to read more about the initiative.

And, in case you missed it, this school year alone, we have opened three new or like-new school buildings in Providence. This includes the new D’Abate and Spaziano Elementary schools the Narducci Learning Center where students were welcomed to state-of-the-art classrooms.

In the months ahead, we will be visiting districts across the state making historic investments to ensure more students are learning in modern learning spaces that are conducive for learning. As we continue to celebrate #Back2SchoolRI, we know these new spaces will help us make clear that it is #Cool2BeInSchoolRI.
