APL’s Learning Resources Collection
Children don’t come with an instruction manual, so sometimes you need a little extra help in tackling a topic or event in your young one’s life. The Learning Resources Collection, located in the Children’s Room, is a comprehensive collection covering a multitude of topics pertaining to raising children of all ages.
Titles address healthy pregnancy and birth, breastfeeding, play strategies, and the tricky road of puberty and teenagers. The Learning Resources Collection is meant for parents, grandparents, preschool teachers, homeschoolers, child care care providers, and everyone with a child in their life.
A portion of this collection is devoted to picture books for children and adults to use together to discuss sensitive issues such as divorce, illness, death, and more. The titles below address big feelings, homelessness, and the loss of a pet. Library staff are happy to find titles for your specific needs.
APL is continuously working on improving services for children and families. If you have suggestions for this collection, please share them using the suggested acquisition form.
Krystal Brown is the APL Head of Children’s Services. She is available to answer questions, recommend books and direct families to resources. Stop by the Children’s Room desk or email kbrown@sailsinc.org to chat!
