GEORGE WILEY CENTER

Next Wednesday Help Stop Summer Utility Shut-offs!

Learn how to defend yourself and others from utility termination.

Are you worried about keeping cool this summer? Are you facing an electricity shutoff or having difficulty with a utility payment plan that you can’t afford? Come and find out how you can prevent having your electricity shut off.

Even if you aren’t immediately facing utility termination right now, you can learn how to prevent shutoffs and defend yourself and others from having your utilities shut off.

Attend this “Know Your Utility Rights” session on Wednesday, July 5th from 6:30-7:30pm at the George Wiley Center 32 East Ave. Pawtucket, RI 02860

Learn about your rights as a utility consumer and ask about how you can:

– Prevent Utility Terminations by enrolling in protections for people with Medical Conditions, Infant Protections, etc.

– Get your utilities restored for 15-25% of what you owe through the Special Circumstances program

– Have up to $1,500 forgiven off your back balance, over a year, through the Forgiveness Program (AMP)

– Sign up for 25-30% discounts on electric and/or gas bills for Low-income households

– Take action to win better policies to make utilities more accessible and affordable.

The George Wiley Center is the longest running statewide anti-poverty organizing group in RI and has organized for decades to create programs and increase protections for utility consumers, unfortunately many people don’t find out about ways to prevent getting their utility termination until after they are shut off.
