Learn About The Extensive Collection Of Statues At Linden Place While You Explore The Gardens In A Special Docent-Led Tour!
BRISTOL, RI – On Thursday, July 20 at 2:00pm, a special docent-led tour will be offered focusing on the history and gardens of Linden Place Mansion.
Explore the property while you uncover the story behind the statues and the man that brought them to Bristol, Samuel Pomeroy Colt.
Hear the stories of Polymny, the woman who graces the front lawn, the meaning of the “rampant colts” placed throughout the lawns and hear about recent renovations and restorations in our historic gardens.
As you tour the grounds, you will have the chance to appreciate the 200-year-old mansion from a different view.
Linden Place docent, Phyllis Thibault, has conducted extensive research and compiled information about the background of the many sculptures, the prior placement and tie to Colt State Park and the meaning of each statue.
Admission is $12, free for Linden Place members.
Reservations are required as this tour will sell out.
