City of Providence News
Dear Neighbor,
Providence is uniquely positioned for tremendous growth over the next ten years. However, we need a strategic plan to guide our growth to ensure Providence continues flourishing while preserving its unique qualities. That’s why earlier this month, we began the once-a-decade process of updating the Providence Comprehensive Plan.
This framework will help us tackle the most challenging questions cities face today, including how to build a climate resilient community, create new housing options across all price points and adapt our transportation system to meet the needs of our growing city.
That’s why it’s critical that our residents and businesses are involved in every step of the process, until the plan is submitted to the state in January 2025.
All summer and fall, we will host community meetings in every neighborhood, sharing ways to get involved and collecting input on the issues that matter most to our residents.
We ask that you join us for our first PVD Comp Plan Open House happening Thursday, June 22nd, at the Providence Career and Technical Academy on 41 Fricker Street, starting at 6 PM.
If you can’t join us, please visit plan.providenceri.gov where we will post future events and offer ways to get involved digitally.
Together, we can build a bright future for Providence.
Sincerely,
Brett P. Smiley
39th Mayor of Providence
