ATTLEBORO PUBLIC LIBRARY – JUNE HIGHLIGHTS

A Message From The Director

As the school year winds down we are seeing record numbers of people in the building and hosting programs every day we’re open! It’s been exciting to introduce new visitors to the library and rewarding to hear their compliments on the staff and services.

The student field trips that happen each spring have brought overwhelming enthusiasm for reading and learning into the work day, and we are grateful for the teachers and administrators who make this happen.

Whether it is little ones squealing with delight that the library has the SAME book they have at home, or an elementary student thrilled they found the next book in the series they’re currently obsessed with, the smiles and laughter keep us doing what we do.

And speaking of doing what we do, have you read the APL mission statement lately?

“The Attleboro Public Library serves as a learning and educational center providing access to resources and services for the information, recreation, intellectual development, and enrichment of our community and its members.”

The library staff and board are committed to lending a wide variety of vetted, carefully selected resources to cardholders and library visitors. Our collection development team enjoys finding titles the community responds to, and are always willing to hear feedback.

For the next few months, the library is urging the community to “Find Your Voice” with the all-ages Summer Reading Program. Unlike summer reading assignments, library summer reading encourages readers (and listeners, and watchers) to enjoy titles they choose themselves while spending time attending events and discussions with other readers (and listeners, and watchers).

Join the Communitywide Kickoff on Thursday, June 15, at 1:30pm.

We can’t wait to see you!
