Attleboro Land Trust Work Party on Saturday May 27
Wildlife at the Richardson Preserve
Our next work party will be on Saturday, May 27, at the Deborah and Roger Richardson Nature Preserve, 577B Wilmarth Street, Attleboro, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.
As always, we are grateful to those of you who volunteer your time and skills to help maintain our conservation properties.
The first order of business for this event is to get some city compost for mulching the flower beds at the Richardson Preserve. It is free to Attleboro residents. Here’s the plan:
Bring as many empty buckets or barrels as will fit in your vehicle, and a shovel or two.
After you arrive at the work party, we will form a caravan, drive to the city compost center, fill all of our containers with compost, drive back to the Preserve, and unload the compost into a storage pile.
(Or if you prefer, you could go to the compost center yourself earlier in the week and bring your load of compost with you on Saturday morning.
The center’s hours are 12:30 to 3:30 Mon thru Fri, 9 to 3 Sat/Sun.)
Other maintenance tasks, as time allows, may include:
Picking up fallen branches in lawn areas
Picking up trash
Pruning along edges of lawns, hayfields, and street
Weeding/mulching flower gardens
Installing sign post
Tools needed may include:
Standard rakes and leaf rakes
Loppers, pruning shears, pruning saws, and other pruning tools
Shovels
String trimmers, weed whackers, brush cutters
Chain saw
Gardening tools
We will have some tools, but please bring what you have.
Dress accordingly for protection against poison ivy and ticks. Please bring your own:
Work gloves

Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
If you are thinking of attending, please reply to give me an idea of how many volunteers to expect.
Thank you,
Charlie Adler
