“ZAMBARANO DAY”

SENATE UNANIMOUSLY PASSES “ZAMBARANO DAY” RESOLUTION INTRODUCED BY SENATE MINORITY LEADER JESSICA DE LA CRUZ

STATE HOUSE, Providence, RI –The Rhode Island Senate recognized today, May 16, 2023 as “Zambarano Day” in Rhode Island.  Senate Minority Leader Jessica de la Cruz introduced the Resolution, S-1021, on the senate floor and welcomed distinguished guests, including long term patients.  The Resolution passed with unanimous support.

The Eleanor Slater Hospital – Zambarano campus serves as a model for Long-Term Acute Care facilities, delivering compassionate health care services to those Rhode Islanders who are in greatest need.  The Resolution extends sincere congratulations to the hospital staff and expresses deep appreciation for the continuation of their laudable efforts.

“It is an honor to carry on the tradition of recognizing the work at Zambarano which provides crucial care unavailable anywhere else in the state to extremely vulnerable patients,” declared Senate Minority Leader Jessica de la Cruz.

“It was not that long ago that the future of the hospital was in doubt.  We built a coalition of families, nurses, and other stakeholders to save Zambarano Hospital and it is such a relief that a new facility on the Burrillville campus is scheduled for construction and funding for necessary updates has been included in the state’s budget,” continued Leader de la Cruz.

“This resolution expresses our gratitude to the staff and our continued commitment and support of the patients who rely on the skilled care provided by Zambarano.”
