STONE SOUP COFFEEHOUSE – PROVIDENCE, RI

Kim Moberg and Davey O

at Stone Soup Coffeehouse

KIM MOBERG

Providence – Stone Soup Coffeehouse presents Kim Moberg and Davey O as they share the stage this week. The show is on Saturday, March March 25, 2023 and starts at 7pm. Tickets are $20, and are available at the door or reserved through our website. Please appear at least 15 minutes before the performance begins, or you will relinquish your tickets to those waiting to attend.

Kim Moberg draws inspiration from both traditional and contemporary musical forms of Americana, Folk, and Country genres. A self taught finger pick style acoustic guitarist, Kim’s passionate and heartfelt vocals mesmerize listeners while her compositions tug at feelings of melancholy, heartbreak and healing and speak to reunion, awakening and social consciousness.

DAVEY O

Armed with a steady, rhythmic pulse on his Gibson guitar, a battered straw cowboy hat and a no apologies rust-belt work ethic, Davey O puts rubber to asphalt, entertaining attentive, diverse audiences at listening rooms, coffeehouses, nightclubs, festivals, colleges and universities throughout the Northeast, Midwest, Midsouth and Atlantic U.S. – performances that result in engagement and communion between performer and audience through story and song.

Together, Kim and Davey will provide listeners with an evening of inspiration, stories about life, travels, experiences and people we may or may not recognize in our own lives. At the end of the evening, our hope is that you leave our venue uplifted and renewed.

Parking at The Music Mansion at 88 Meeting St, Providence, RI 02906 is limited, and carpooling, ridesharing, and mass transit are highly encouraged. There is also available parking on Benefit Street, a short set of stairs will lead you right up to the Music Mansion.

ABOUT KIM MOBERG AND DAVEY O

Award winning singer/songwriter/guitarist Kim Moberg was born in Juneau, Alaska, the daughter of a classical pianist mother of Alaskan Native Tlingit (People of the Tides) descent and a US Coast Guard veteran father from Kansas. Her Tlingit name is Ḵ’ashg̱é (Still and Shines) and she of the Raven (Yéil) moiety, Sea Pigeon (T’akdeintaan) clan.

Music was the constant in Kim’s childhood, helping her to adjust to the frequent moves associated with growing up in a military family. From the sounds of Beethoven to Johnny Cash, Dave Brubeck to Hank Williams, and Bob Evans to David Bowie, the love of all genres of music has been ingrained in her soul.

Kim is a regionally touring artist whose resume includes sharing the stage with numerous established and contemporary artists including Jim Kweskin, Bill Staines, Kirsten Maxwell,  Ellis Paul, Joe Jencks, Vance Gilbert, Catie Curtis, Cheryl Wheeler, Alice Howe, Louise Mosrie Coombs, Rod Abernethy, Grace Morrison, Rupert Wates, Tom Prasada-Rao and Tom Chapin.

It’s no surprise that Buffalo, NY born and bred songwriter Davey O. has been described by Buffalo News critic Jeff Miers as having “a journalist’s eye for detail and poet’s ear for the well-turned observation”.

Embarking on a decade-plus journey that has resulted in a collection of justly-earned, highly introspective songs, Davey crafts pure Americana that is not of the social and political consciousness, but drawn from the deep well of experience and human emotion – no hackneyed story lines, no insincere polish, just an unflinching poet’s look at life.

The characters are woven seamlessly into stories of which the song itself becomes the soundtrack for the movie playing inside the listener’s head.

The hard work has paid off with recognition by way of a New Folk Finalist Selection at The 2013 Kerrville Folk Festival, an Official Showcase Selection at the 2011 Folk Alliance Conference and coveted opening act slots for Ellis Paul, Lucy Kaplansky, Amy Speace, Tracy Grammer, Eilen Jewell, Suzanne Vega, Eric Andersen, Cheryl Wheeler, Sloan Wainwright, Kim & Reggie Harris, Seth Glier, Watchhouse (formerly Mandolin Orange), Pierce Pettis, Vance Gilbert, The Kennedys, and Poco.
