Join us for an evening of fun in encaustics
demonstration with Kelly Milukas here at the gallery!
Encaustic’s unique methods of how the paint is applied will be featured, the importance of heat and encaustic medium for mixing of color, how it is fused with heat for adhesion, extended out, and textured. How layering, color saturation and luminosity are achieved, mark making, and surface development including scraping, drawing, and carving techniques.
Art collectors and artists will find this demonstration an exciting opportunity to grow knowledge about this ancient & opulent paint medium.
Kelly Milukas works and teaches in a variety of mediums, among them, encaustic, pastel, water and ink-based paints, and mixed-media-sculpture.
Her varied subject matter reflects her acute perception of the visual world, and a strong affinity for the world of stem cell science. Her work leans abstract and process driven.
Kelly received her Bachelor of Arts degree in sculpture from the University of Southern Maine. Her work is represented by Taste Design, RI and Four Corners Gallery, RI.
In addition to teaching in her RI Studio/Lab, Kelly serves as an Artist Instructor for R&F Encaustics, an instructor for the International Encaustic Conference at Truro Center for the Arts, MA, as well as teaching workshops nationally.
We are accepting applications for a few new artist members until February 17th.
