Dear Neighbor,
As Mayor, I am committed to improving the quality of life in the City of Providence, and I am especially focused on ensuring everyone that lives and works in our city feels safe. Our Chief of Police plays a critical role in that mission and as a city that has served as a national model for community policing, it is important that our next Chief of Police continues to build upon that work, engage with our neighbors and support the rank and file. I am proud of the process that we developed that engages Providence residents and businesses in selecting our next Chief.
We launched a community survey, available in English and Spanish, that asks Providence community members to identify the top qualities and priorities they would like to see in their next Chief of Police.
With over 300 responses so far, we ask that you take the survey and then share it with your neighbors, family and friends. Every answer will inform our search and ultimately shape the public forum we will host on February 8th at 5:30PM at Providence Career and Technical Academy, where people will be able to meet the final candidates.
Your ideas will help us identify the right fit for this crucial role. We will release more details on the final candidates and the upcoming public forum, so please stay tuned for more information.
