PAWTUCKET SWEARING IN CEREMONY

Mayor Donald Grebien & Members of Pawtucket City Council and School Committee Sworn In for 2023-2024 Term

PAWTUCKET – Mayor Donald R. Grebien and members of the Pawtucket City Council and School Committee were sworn in for the 2023-2024 term on Monday.

Governor Dan McKee administered the oath of office to the Mayor, commencing his seventh term in office. Senator Jack Reed, Congressman David Cicilline, Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos, Secretary of State Gregg Amore, Attorney General Peter Neronha, and General Treasurer James Diossa were also part of the Inaugural Ceremony.

“Twelve years ago, when I took office, our City was in a drastically different place. We were at the brink of bankruptcy and state takeover, with little to no investment in our community or its future” said Mayor Grebien in his inaugural address. “Pawtucket residents are resilient and as we continue to face obstacles, I am more confident than ever that we will overcome and continue to provide outstanding quality of service to all.”

Following his swearing in, Mayor Grebien administered the oath of office to members of the Pawtucket City Council and School Committee. Councilor Terrence Mercer will serve as the new Council President. Former President, Councilor David Moran, did not re-seek the presidency and nominated Mercer. Councilor Michael Arajuo will serve as President Pro-Tempore.
