TEACHERS OF CRITICAL LANGUAGES PROGRAM
Apply by January 23 to host an Arabic or Mandarin teacher at your school in 2023-2024
Have you considered developing or expanding Arabic or Mandarin as a Foreign Language in your school? Are you looking for ways to bring extra cross-cultural enrichment and language learning to your school community?
American Councils works with the U.S. State Department-sponsored Teachers of Critical Language Program (TCLP) to place highly qualified K-12 teachers from People’s Republic of China (PRC), Egypt, Morocco, and Taiwan in your district for an academic year to teach Arabic or Mandarin as a Foreign Language.
TCLP provides exchange teachers with:
S. visa (J-1) support
Living stipend
Health insurance
Training and professional development
Roundtrip airfare
Ongoing program support
While host schools provide mentorship and community support.

During their 10-month stay in the United States, a TCLP exchange teacher would typically:
Conduct over 120 hours of cultural outreach in U.S. host communities
Spend over 260 hours of lesson planning and curriculum development for their host school
Interact with over 300 U.S. students, parents, and community members
Apply by January 23, 2023 and equip your students with critical language and cultural skills that are necessary for tomorrow’s job market.
