Get connected to affordable internet service
MAYOR JORGE O. ELORZA
Dear Neighbor,
Throughout the pandemic, we’ve seen time and time again just how important it is to be connected. And for families who are already struggling to pay their bills, the added cost of broadband internet might make that connection out of reach.
I’m writing today to make you aware of an important new federal program that can help you get home internet access, and even a computer.
The Affordable Connectivity Program is a federal program that helps families and households struggling to afford internet service to get connected. This new benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward broadband service for eligible households in Providence. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers.
The Mayor’s Center for City Services recently hired a new staff member who is dedicated to helping individuals learn about and apply for this program. If you need help determining if you are eligible or completing the application, call my office at 3-1-1 to get connected with the support you need. Or, visit https://www.providenceri.gov/pvdconnects/ for more information.
It’s important to stay connected, and there are new resources available that can help. I hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity. To learn more about who is eligible for this program and the application process, click here.
Sincerely,
Jorge O. Elorza
