LTE: THE PROVIDENCE LAND BANK – AN AFFORDABLE HOUSING PLAN

Haga clic aquí para español

Dear Neighbor,

The lack of affordable housing in Providence continues to be one of the biggest issues we face as a city. Every person needs and deserves access to affordable housing, and housing has been another top priority of my administration. With that said, I am excited to share several new programs that we recently launched that will help us reach our housing goals.

First, we announced the creation of the Providence Neighborhood Land Bank

The Lank Bank is a new program through the Providence Redevelopment Agency, funded by the Providence Housing Trust, that will acquire, hold, and transfer underused vacant land throughout the City, with the goal of generating new affordable housing and revitalizing Providence neighborhoods.

This program comes with an ask: an open call to help identify potential lots for the Land Bank.

If you know of any potential vacant lots throughout the City that we should look into, please nominate them by emailing LandBank@providenceri.gov

Second, the City also announced the Affordable and Alternative Housing Programming Grant Program

This grant opportunity invites non-profit or quasi public organizations to apply for grant funding up to $500,000 to come up with innovative ideas to increase housing stability, hasten or bridge the transition of households into affordable housing units, or otherwise support people experiencing homelessness to regain and maintain stable housing.

If you know an organization that would be interested in this opportunity to transform the future of housing in Providence, please encourage them to apply at

https://pvdrescueplan.com/housing/

Applications will be open until November 18, 2022.

I hope you will join us in spreading the word about these two new housing programs in Providence.

More information about this program, and many others, can be found at PVDRescuePlan.com/Apply and for more information about the Providence Rescue Plan, visit PVDRescuePlan.com

Sincerely,
