On October 13, 2022, Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England celebrated our Leading Women of Distinction Awards at the Renaissance Providence Hotel. Guests heard from our wonderful emcee, Barbara Morse from NBC 10 WJAR, our special Gold Award Girl Scout speaker, Marykate Tillinghast, and our 2022 honorees.

Our 2022 Leading Women of Distinction honorees have made incredible contributions throughout our local community.

All are amazing women who have made a significant, positive impact in an impressive array of fields. These honorees represent diversity of leadership in the community and beyond and promote inclusion and opportunity for girls and women.

This group of inspiring women serve as exemplary role models for the leaders of tomorrow.

This year’s Honorees were:

Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England CEO Dana Borrelli-Murray, stated, “Our awardees are extraordinary examples of our mission and promise. This year’s honorees represented multiple sectors and expertise areas along with diverse backgrounds, geographies, life stories, and identities.

Girl Scouts continues to push for all forms of inclusion and social justice and commits to doing all we can to help create the change in our community that is long overdue. I am so lucky to do this work each day. Celebrating the leaders in our community—Adriana, Alisha, Elizabeth, Kristin, Maria, and Sarah—is a joy and highlight of my work.”

A highlight of the event was our guest speaker, Gold Award recipient, Marykate Tillinghast, who shared her Girl Scout experience. Marykate showed us that Girl Scouts creates extraordinary leaders, with the confidence, values, skills, and courage to make the world a better place.

GSSNE hopes that through positive, girl-led, girl-centric experiences and exposure to strong female role models, all girls can thrive in the direction of their ambitions and lead lives full of courage, confidence, and character.
