NBAM Art After School Program:
Tuesdays and Thursdays

Ages: Elementary School Students (free pick up from Sgt. William Carney Memorial Academy available)
The Art After School Program offers artist-led gallery & studio lessons which combine looking and talking about exhibitions on view at NBAM with hands on studio time. Activities include: printmaking, comic book art, clay sculpting, painting, mask making, and mixed media projects. Daily snacks are provided, and all materials are included.
Students can expect to:
Gain confidence in their artistic abilities.
Learn to express themselves as they explore a variety of media.
Acquire social and emotional skills as they learn to share and collaborate.
Shibori Dyeing Workshops:
Monday, October 10 (Sign-up Deadline: October 6)
Friday, November 11 (Sign-up Deadline: November 6)

Ages: 14+
These one-day, 3 hour workshops, will introduce students to the world of resist dyeing in the form of Japanese Shibori. This technique can be dated back to the 5th century and is traditionally dyed with Indigo. Students will learn different methods of Shibori and basic fabric dyeing. All materials are included. Class size: 12 students
Intro to Printmaking for Teens:
Saturdays, October 22 – Saturday, November 19 (Sign-up Deadline: October 16)
1:30PM – 3:30PM
Ages: 13-17
This 5 week workshop will explore image making using the basics of traditional printmaking and alternative techniques. Students will learn various techniques; to talk about fine art, and construct prints using past and present methods like stencils, pattern making, screen printing, block printing, monotype, collagraph, embossing and dry point etching.

This 5 week class will explore hand building and the basics of wheel throwing on a pottery wheel. Students will manipulate clay to form objects using techniques such as: pinching, coiling, and joining slabs. Students will build objects through projects centered around functional and sculptural objects.
This course will foster and develop creative problem-solving and allow students to discover what they are capable of through experimentation of the clay medium. All materials included. Class size: 12 students.
