Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England CEO Dana Borrelli-Murray, stated, “Juliette Gordon Low founded Girl Scouts in 1912 with a vision for girls to grow, connect, have fun and lead. Each year, we shine a light on exemplary women in our community that do the same. Our Leading Women of Distinction honorees reflect the diversity of our community through their backgrounds, professions, and priorities. All our honorees are carrying on an important legacy through their work and service. It is our belief that the Leading Women of Distinction Awards will influence our next generation of leaders to make our world a better place.”
Since 2015, the GSSNE Leading Women of Distinction Honorees have been a direct reflection of what Girl Scouting stands for—they are both impressive and inspiring. GSSNE hopes that through positive, girl-led, girl-centric experiences and exposure to strong, female role models, all girls can thrive in the direction of their ambitions and lead lives full of courage, confidence, and character.

We Are Girl Scouts
Girl Scouts bring their dreams to life and work together to build a better world. Through programs across Southeastern New England, Girl Scouts of all backgrounds and abilities can be unapologetically themselves as they discover their strengths and rise to meet new challenges—whether they want to climb to the top of a tree or the top of their class, lace up their boots for a hike or advocate for climate justice, or make their first best friends.
Backed by trusted adult volunteers, mentors, and millions of alums, Girl Scouts lead the way as they find their voices and make changes that affect the issues most important to them.
