JULY HAPPENINGS AT ATTLEBORO PUBLIC LIBRARY

A Message from Our Director

While many of our patrons look forward to July because it is full of barbeque and beach days, library staff are looking forward to having an air conditioned building! Join us IN PERSON for one (or all) of the fun programs you’ll find listed later in this newsletter.

We hope to see you here cooling off and gathering together the titles you need to keep busy during the lazy days of summer.

Need some suggestions? We’ve got some for you! Just tell one of us what you’re looking for.

While you’re out and about, keep an eye on our web site and social media pages for news on upcoming events. We’ll be announcing the next NEA Big Read title to Attleboro’s Municipal Council on July 19. You aren’t going to miss the great community events we’re busy planning!

In other grant news, the Volterra Foundation has awarded the Friends of APL a grant to frame items currently stored in the local history room.

It is truly our pleasure to take these items out of storage and share important historical documents with the wider community. We know that showcasing these items will inspire visitors to explore library collections and learn more about Attleboro’s history.

The reference department currently has the second-floor display cases filled with items showcasing Attleboro Public Schools, the Library building, and the Hurricane of 1938 and the Local History Collection as a whole.

And finally, while we had hoped to get this newsletter out to you ahead of Saturday’s Open House, we are in fact sending it after the festivities.

Our most sincere appreciation goes out to all of the people who made the event the truly special event that it was! We couldn’t have done it without the renovation team, the Municipal Building Commission, the Municipal Council, the Board of Trustees, the Friends of APL, the Attleboro Public Schools, the library staff and volunteers, the Attleboro Garden Club, and the Attleboro Land Trust.

We love being a part of the Attleboro community!
