PAWTUCKET: CHILDREN’S SUMMER READING PROGRAM

PAWTUCKET PUBLIC LIBRARY LAUNCHES CHILDREN’S SUMMER READING PROGRAM

The Pawtucket Public Library is excited to kick off this year’s summer reading program “Read Beyond the Beaten Path” on Friday June 24th at 2:00 p.m. with special guest, Fiddle N’ Fun. Children of all ages can be Summer Readers. Children ages 6-12 can read on their own with family and friends.

Reach 9 hours and earn a raffle ticket for a grand prize! Collect other prizes along the way. For our youngest pre-readers ages 0-6 we have an activity log. After every four (4) activities are completed, your child will earn a prize bag.

When 12 activities have been completed, your child will earn a raffle ticket for a grand prize. Register for the program in the children’s library, on the bookmobile or online at www.pawtucketlibrary.org.

All children are welcome to attend the following programs scheduled in July:

Come join us for a painting class! We will be creating an artwork with the art instructor on the summer reading program theme camping. All the materials will be provided. Registration required. Space is limited. Mask are recommended.

Roger Williams Zoomobile!

Friday July 15, 11:00 AM & 1:00 PM

The Roger Williams Zoo is coming to the Pawtucket Library with their Zoomobile! Experience a great presentation about the animals they will have for viewing at the library. The Zoomobile carries a message of compassion for all living things along with a greater understanding of our wonder-filled planet.

These animals cannot be touched, but participants will be able to view them from a 6 foot distance. Registration required. Masks are required for this event.

Make Your Own Stuffed Animal

Thursday July 21, 3:00 PM

Travel beyond the beaten path with your own stuffed animal friend. Kids ages 2-6 are invited to make their own stuffed animal! No sewing skills required. We’ll begin with a story time featuring bears before making our very own. Masks recommended. Registration required.

Music Fun with Mr. Guitar Man

July 27, 11:00 AM

Families with young children (babies to age 7) are invited for a musical jam session. Bring a friend and get ready to sing and dance to lively tunes or play along on a rhythm instrument. You won’t want to miss a beat! Free – Registration required. Masks are recommended.

Stuffed Animal Camp Out

Wednesday July 27, 6:00 PM

What happens in the library at night??? Bring a stuffed animal for a very special story time. We will read stories, sing songs, and tuck our stuffed animal friends in for a night by the “campfire.” Your stuffed animals will spend the night at the library!

When no one is watching, what could they possibly get up to? Come back the next day to pick your stuffed animal up and perhaps see some photographic evidence of what went on at night! (best not to bring a stuffed animal that will be missed too much). Registration required.
