RIDE Awards $2.92 million for Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center Grants
The Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) is pleased to announce $2.92 million in annual grant awards to provide students with high-quality after-school and summer learning programs.
This program is federally funded through the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center grant (Title IV, Part B).
Grants are awarded through a partnership between a local education agency and a community-based organization to provide academic support, enrichment, and family engagement services in targeted schools.
In keeping with the goals and recommendations of the Learning, Equity & Accelerated Pathways (LEAP) Task Force, RIDE gave priority to applications proposing explicit strategies to serve Multilingual Learners and/or Differently Abled Students.
Grants were awarded to the following:
Central Falls School District / Highlander Institute / Freedom Dreams to serve Calcutt Middle School and Central Falls Senior High School
Newport Public Schools / Newport Community School to serve Rogers High School
Pawtucket School Department / RI Philharmonic Orchestra and Music School / Gif-O-Graf to serve all ten Pawtucket elementary schools.
Providence Public School District / Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence to serve Dr. Jorge Alvarez High School
Providence Public School District / DownCity Design to serve Providence Career and Technical Academy
Providence Public School District / Providence After School Alliance (PASA) to serve Esek Hopkins Middle School, Gilbert Stuart Middle School, Gov. Christopher DelSesto Middle School, and Nathan Bishop Middle School
Providence Public School District / Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts (TAPA) / New Urban Arts to serve Central High School, Classical High School, and TAPA
Urban Collaborative / Fund for UCAP to serve the UCAP School
Woonsocket Education Department / Connecting for Children and Families to serve Citizens-Pothier Elementary Campus and Globe Park School
