Meet The New Kids!
Dickens & Dixie
Dickens and Dixie are ten-week-old orphans. Their caretaker could not handle taking care of the two youngsters, as like any baby, they require a great deal of attention.
Winslow Farm offered to take them in.
The farm has suffered many sad losses this year in a short span of time, so it was uplifting to welcome these two youngsters to the farm.
They are a mix of Alpine, which is a larger goat, and Nigerian dwarf, a smaller goat, so it will be interesting to see how big these boys will eventually get. They are a mix of black and white, with horns.
They will be introduced to the other goats slowly. Eventually one or more of our older goats will offer solace for the loss of their mother.
Goats are herbivores and have a healthy appetite. It was challenging photographing Dickens and Dixie without their heads buried in hay.
We are so happy to have these two beautiful animals at the farm and look forward to many years of enjoyment watching them grow.
Goats require a lot of care and enjoy the companionship of a herd. They are very intelligent and curious animals. Dickens was quite inquisitive in the camera as he was having his photo taken! They love to explore and check out anything new in their environment. Dickens and Dixie will have a wonderful time exploring their new world.
