On behalf of the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women, Happy Women’s History Month!
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR YARICE HIDALGO
Historically, women have always made significant contributions in all areas of our society – and we continue to do so. Therefore, I encourage you to pause and think of the women who have inspired you: throughout history, in your community, professionally, in your circle of friends, and family.
I intentionally do this every day because it is essential to recognize where we come from, on whose shoulders we stand, and use that strength to define my role going forward.
In a recent conversation regarding the work of the MCSW and why it is essential, I shared, “I want to continue paving the way for the next generation of young women.” A good friend of mine added, “I am part of this work for my daughter AND son.” This sentiment serves as a good reminder that empowering women empowers us all.
Celebrating Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day is something we should all do. Every individual in our society can point to a woman who has inspired, supported, and lifted them.
As we recognize Women’s History Month, let’s all celebrate and acknowledge the tremendous contributions women have had in our lives. At the MCSW, we understand the impact that women make in our society – and that equal access to opportunities starts with elevating the voices of ALL women and girls.
