In 1900, Anthony led a successful campaign for The University of Rochester to accept women. Today, Anthony is memorialized at the school with The Susan B. Anthony Institute for Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies.

In 1872, Anthony was arrested for casting a vote in a presidential election. The court fined her $100. She refused to pay. 

Anthony was friends with Frederick Douglass – a connection that would last for an eternity. Their friendship is immortalized with a bronze statue of the two friends having tea in Rochester.

Before she started advocating for equal rights for women all over the country, Anthony was a school teacher for a yearly salary of $110.
