RIBBON CUTTING AT QUONSET – RHODE ISLAND READY

Gov. McKee Visits Quonset to Cut the Ribbon on Rhode Island Ready

Governor Daniel J. McKee (left) joined state and Quonset officials to cut the ribbon on Rhode Island Ready (RI Ready) recently, officially launching the new statewide $40 million economic development program designed to prepare industrial sites to host new companies and jobs.

“Rhode Island Ready is a smart, exciting new program that will help bolster our economy and create jobs for Rhode Islanders,” said Governor McKee.

“This initiative will help cities and towns make the most of properties already zoned industrial, creating jobs and economic development that will benefit the entire state.

This is an important investment in our state, and I’m confident that the program can replicate Quonset’s success with site readiness.”

RI Ready is based on Quonset Business Park’s successful “Site Readiness” program, which has generated over 3,500 jobs at 41 companies and $682 million in private investment across 19 developed sites in the past decade.

Quonset’s program provides pre-permitted, per-engineered sites that are shovel-ready within 90 days of businesses signing their lease.

RI Ready is a partnership between QDC and Rhode Island Commerce, and the initiative will be managed by Quonset’s Director of Planning and Development Chelsea Siefert.
