New Board Takes the Helm at WOMR
New members come on board after successful pandemic leadership by Bruce Bierhans
Provincetown, MA, December 20, 2021: A new board of directors has taken its place at Lower Cape Communications, the nonprofit announced today.
The community radio station held its annual meeting via video call on November 20th, during which the nominating committee’s slate was ratified.
At the first board meeting following the annual meeting, Marcy Feller was elected board president, and Sheila House was elected board vice-president. Tony Pierson continues as treasurer and Fred Boak became the clerk.
A board term is three years, with members allowed to serve two terms before taking a year off. President Bruce Bierhans and former treasurer Rick Sigel both termed off. Clerk Sandra Hemeon McMahon decided to not run for an additional term, while director Jonathan Thompson stepped down after serving one year.
Incoming board members include web designer Fred Boak, writer Indira Ganesan, musician and guesthouse owner Sarah Burrill, and Seamen’s Bank branch manager Janice Roderick.
“We want to express special thanks to our outgoing president, Bruce Bierhans, who led us through a particularly complicated and difficult time,” says WOMR executive director John Braden. “His leadership during the pandemic enabled the station to weather the lockdown, technical challenges, and more, and to put WOMR on steady financial footing going into our fortieth year on the air.”
The station has plans to celebrate its anniversary with special programming and events through 2022.
