TRANSPORTATION FOR MASSACHUSETTS STATEMENT ON FEDERAL INFRASTRUCTURE LEGISLATION
Landmark Legislation is an Opportunity for Future-Ready Investment and Policy; Lawmakers and Baker Administration Should Prioritize Equity, Climate Resilience and Public Transportation
“The signing of federal infrastructure legislation is a milestone for our country and for the Commonwealth. It marks a significant down payment on addressing decades of underinvestment, and signals real progress on transportation, equity, climate, water, public health and more. Massachusetts should move swiftly to ensure we are ready to leverage federal investments and make our transit, roads, bikeways and walkways safer, cleaner and more accessible.
Now is the time to match federal funding with state resources and future-ready transportation policy to make a leap forward with electrification, equity, climate resilience, and expansion of public transit. While this legislation is not everything that our state and nation need, it represents the most significant new federal investment in transportation in a generation.
Let’s put it to wise use.
