Providence, Rhode Island –– The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will offer free service on Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11, 2021, to all Rhode Island veterans with proof of eligibility. RIPTA will also offer free service for veterans to WaterFire – A Salute to Veterans  on Saturday, November 6, 2021.

Veterans and all passengers are reminded that RIPTA services operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on Veterans Day and that administrative offices are closed.

Veterans can ride on the holiday and to the special WaterFire event by showing a veteran’s identification card or a driver’s license with a “V” on it.

“It is our duty as Americans to show our appreciation and gratitude for our Veterans,” said Governor Dan McKee. “RIPTA’s special service to those who have served is one way we can thank them for their sacrifice. I am grateful to RIPTA for their generosity and encourage all Rhode Islanders to show their appreciation to Veterans this holiday.

“RIPTA is pleased to show our appreciation of our Veterans on this holiday,” said Scott Avedisian, RIPTA’s Chief Executive Officer. “We are grateful for their service.”
