PIRATES READY – SET TO SAIL

Pirates Meet With Rhode Island
Governor Daniel McKee

Yesterday, Thursday October 28, 2021, your Pirates’ staff and players had the honor of meeting Rhode Island Governor Daniel McKee. The Pirates took photos with the Governor at the State House, and presented the Governor with his very own custom Pirates jersey!

Governor McKee presented Pirates President/CEO Fenerci with a Certificate of Special Recognition and welcomed the Pirates to Rhode Island. President Fenerci shared with the Governor the Pirates’ mission of offering an affordable family-friendly entertainment while providing the local players a platform to showcase their talents. President Fenerci invited Governor McKee to be a celebrity player at one of the Pirates games this year.

Governor McKee had this to say about the Pirates’ visit to the State Capital:

“As a former basketball player and coach and lifelong basketball fan, I know the values that can be learned on the court. Lessons like teamwork, sportsmanship, and coming together for the greater good all happen when you’re part of a team,” said Governor McKee.

“I know the Providence Pirates share those goals, and I thank them for bringing top basketball talent to our state and making a positive impact through their partnerships with local organizations.

I wish them the very best in their inaugural season in the American Basketball Association, and I know all of Rhode Island will be cheering them on. Go Pirates!”

The Pirates now look ahead to their season opener this Saturday, October 30 against the Worcester Majors at the West Warwick Civic Center.

The game will tip off at 7:47pm and the doors will be open to fans at 7:20pm.
