Commissioner’s Memo to Friends of Education
Angelica
October is National Principals Month, a time for us to recognize our schools’ leaders for their hard work and unending dedication to our students.
This year has made more clear than ever how deeply important a role our principals play in student learning and safety. Every day, our principals statewide have tackled challenges head on, kept students safe, and promoted lifelong learning at every grade level.
I know that it has not been easy, but our principals—including our amazing assistant principals— have kept at it and made a difference.
I also want to take this moment to encourage every educator interested in learning more about becoming a principal to do it.
We can always use more dedicated administrators who know what our students need from first-hand experience. RIDE is dedicated to helping aspiring school leaders learn, explore, and grow in their career.
Please, don’t hesitate to reach out and find out more about what it takes to become a school leader.
From the bottom of my heart and on behalf of all of Rhode Island: thank you, principals for your commitment and your care.
The work that you do every day changes the lives of students and we are eternally grateful for it.
