“THE NIGHT PORTRAIT”

 The Art Lovers Book Club at the Attleboro Arts Museum blends art, culture, and literature through vivid presentations and discussions.

An author, subject matter expert or screening of a film opens each session. Meetings are free of charge and open to the public.

  

On Saturday, October 16th, from 2pm-4pm EST, the Book Club will meet virtually for “Behind The Night Portrait” an event conducted by art historian and USA Today best selling novelist Laura Morelli. Morelli’s The Night Portrait is a dual-timeline historical novel about the creation of one of Leonardo da Vinci’s most famous paintings, Portrait of a Lady with an Ermine, and the woman who fought to save it from Nazi destruction during World War II.

 

Advance registration is required to receive a link to join the meeting. Visit https://lauramorelli.com/attleboro/ to register. Organizers encourage registrants to read The Night Portrait in advance of the event but reading the book before October 16th is not a requirement.

 

 About the Author Laura Morelli holds a Ph.D. in art history from Yale University and is an award-winning, USA Today best selling historical novelist. Ms. Morelli has taught college students in the United States and Europe. She is a longtime trusted guide in the world of cultural travel and authentic shopping, known for her Authentic Artsguidebook series that includes Made in Italyand other guides.

She has been a columnist for National Geographic Traveler and Italy Magazine, and has also developed lessons for TED-Ed. As a historical novelist, Ms. Morelli’spassion is bringing the stories of art history to life.

 

Her debut novel, The Gondola Maker, was one of the first independently published novels to earn a starred review in Publishers Weekly; it went on to win an IPPY Award and Benjamin Franklin Award. The Stolen Lady, Laura’s latest historical novel, follows the Mona Lisafrom 15th-century Florence to World War II France. The October 16th meeting of the Art Lovers Book Club is funded by the ATT-Texins.
