FIRSTWORKS FRIDAY

This Friday at 5:00 & 8:00 PM*

Roger Williams Park • Dalrymple Boathouse Lawn

Fusing Brazilian music and rhythms with body percussion and tap traditions, Music from the Sole celebrates tap’s roots in the African diaspora, reflecting influences from funk to jazz, house and Afro-Cuban music.

Watch them in action at FirstWorks Education workshops taking place this week.

Led by tap dancer Leonardo Sandoval (recently named one of 25 to Watch in 2021 by Dance Magazine) and bassist-composer Gregory Richardson, the ensemble is joined by Providence-based tap artist, Orlando Hernández for their FirstWorks Live performance.

Experience this PVDFest Happening of dance, music, and food in the gorgeous setting of the People’s Park. Grab a chair and a picnic blanket and pick up your favorite treats on your way there from Food Truck Friday, just across from the performance lawn at the Roger Williams Park Zoo & Carousel Village starting at 4:30 p.m.

Can’t make it in person? This free concert will also be livestreamed on our Facebook page.

*Dates and times are subject to change – in the event of rain, Music From The Sole’s performance will be moved to Saturday, September 25, indoors at the Providence Public Library at 12:00 and 2:30 PM.
