Boston Teachers Union Applauds Mayor Janey’s School Committee Appointments

BOSTON – Mayor Kim Janey announced Thursday the appointments of Rafaela Polanco and Lorena Lopera to the Boston School Committee. The Boston Teachers Union has released the following statement:

“We commend Mayor Janey’s appointments of Rafaela Polanco and Lorena Lopera to the Boston School Committee. It’s important to have a School Committee that is reflective of the community it represents, and we are eager to welcome these two experienced Latina leaders and BPS parents to the Committee.

 

Rafaela and Lorena are committed advocates for educational justice, inclusivity of stakeholder voices and have deep experience working on both policy and community engagement in BPS, and we look forward to working with them to move our district forward.”
