A Note from the Chair
RI Democratic Party Chairman Joseph McNamara
This July 4th, we’re celebrating not only America’s independence but also the fact that America is coming back. We’re back to barbeques, fireworks, and gatherings with friends and family, all thanks to President Joe Biden’s COVID-19 mobilization.
When President Biden took office in January, COVID-19 cases and deaths were at an all-time high in America with more than 185,000 new infections and 3,300 deaths every day. 300 million vaccination shots later, in mid-June, the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths dropped by 90%.
We’re safer than we’ve ever been since the start of the pandemic, and I’m immensely grateful that extended families- grandparents, parents, and grandkids, can get together this weekend in Rhode Island without the fear that surrounded July 4th festivities a year ago. Enjoy your weekend, and Happy Independence Day!
