A new study found Massachusetts is the No . 8 best state for nursing professionals in 2021.
Nurse Practitioners in the state earn $123,960 on average and by 2028 jobs for Home Health and Personal Care Aides are projected to grow by 19.8%.
The Senior List today released a study on the Highest Paying States for Nursing Professionals using the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Census Bureau, and Projections Central.
The rankings were determined by analyzing income, projected job growth and housing costs in each state for different types of nurses.
Key Massachusetts Findings:
- By 2028, jobs are projected to increase for Home Health and Personal Care aides by 19.8%, Nurse Practitioners by 16.2%, Registered Nurses by 8.2%, and Nursing Assistants by 4.1%.
- Nurse Practitioners spend 14% of their salary on housing, Home Health and Personal Care Aides spend 52%.
Key National Findings:
- Nurse Practitioners earn at least $100,000 in all but four states and jobs are projected to grow by 50% by 2028.
- Since 2011, salaries increased for Home Health and Personal Care Aides by 34%, Nursing Assistants by 26%, Nurse Practitioners by 24%, and Registered Nurses by 14%.
- The five best states are New York, Maryland and three western states – California, Colorado, and Oregon. The five worst states are all in the south, Alabama has the lowest ranking.
