HVAC – INTERNET
Greetings from your Library Trustees,
Well, our patrons certainly have put up with some serious inconvenience over the past year, between COVID-19 and construction. You have been really understanding and patient throughout, and we’ve heard so many compliments during this time. So from us to you, a big thank you is in order.
The good news is that both projects—did you know there were two?—are on time and within their budgets. We’ve repaired the building “envelope” to keep out water and cold air. We are trying to restore the building’s appearance as best as we can, while preserving its beautiful and historic elements. We’re also overhauling the elevator, and the old HVAC system has been replaced—halleluiah!
The second project is a complete upgrade of our Wi-Fi and internet infrastructure throughout the building. By this time in August, life at the library should start returning to normal, and we’ll all need to celebrate that together–watch this space for more news!
Do you remember these old puzzles called magic squares? Well, this is a pretty good illustration of what life has been like for our intrepid APL staff during the renovation.
When the construction work has demanded, our employees have had to slide over, up, or down to various other locations in the library to make way for the workers.
Our very cooperative building team has worked with our director Amy to choreograph a few such moves.
Do look forward to what is coming.
And when you see an APL staff member, please give them an elbow bump and/or an encouraging word, and tell them how much you appreciate them.
And thank YOU so much for sticking with us as we eagerly wait for the new and improved library to emerge from behind the scaffolding.
