“April showers bring May flowers.”
As we write this, it is raining. Much needed rain for Rhode Island.
May flowers will follow with May Day (a celebration of Spring) and there will be a May Day Breakfast on Saturday, May 1st @ 8 am – 12 pm as well as an indoor yard sale through 3 pm that continues on Sunday, May 2 from 12 – 4 pm at St. Ann Arts & Culture Center, Woonsocket.
So soon after honoring Mother Earth we will honor mothers all around on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 9th.
There is also Cinco de Mayo which will be celebrated on… well Wednesday, May 5 — of course.
Below we list where to buy gifts and sweet treats for mother, where to get your Mother’s Day dinner reservations as well as places to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
Cinco de Mayo – This annual celebration commemorates the Mexican victory over French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.
Like St. Patrick’s Day, the day is celebrated widely whether you are Mexican, Mexican-American or of non-Mexican heritage. The Blackstone Valley has several Mexican restaurants if you are looking for a place for tacos and margaritas to celebrate.
Bravo Brewery and Johnny’s Victory Diner will partner up for a Cinco de Mayo celebration on Wednesday, May 5 @ 5 – 9 pm., featuring two new beers, a Margarita Gose and a Mexican Hot Chocolate Imperial Stout to go along with a tasty menu by Johnny’s Victory Diner.
