The City of Pawtucket Partners with AccuRaeference Medical Lab and Rhode Island Department of Health to Provide Mobile Testing
PAWTUCKET- The City of Pawtucket has partnered with the Rhode Island Department of Health and the local branch of AccuReference Medical Lab, the provider who has spearheaded testing at McCoy Stadium since November of 2020, to host a mobile COVID-19 testing for the residents of Pawtucket this weekend.
The test site will be held this Saturday, April 10th from 10am to 2pm at the Elizabeth Baldwin Elementary School, 50 Whitman Street in Pawtucket.
“Our goal is to provide a convenient opportunity to our neighborhoods because COVID-19 testing is still important,” said Mayor Donald R. Grebien. “We are trying to make sure Pawtucket residents are kept safe and we know that testing is down and want to encourage residents to continue to get tested and to continue monitoring for any symptoms.”
The pop-up site will provide an opportunity to Pawtucket residents for testing during the weekend in order to minimize the spread of COVID-19 in densely populated neighborhoods.
“Our residents are going back to or are already back at work, and we want to make sure that we continue to inform the public about the importance of testing in order to minimize the spread as much as possible since there is such an emphasis on vaccination right now,” Grebien continued.
“Getting tested is fast, easy, and free,” said Sean Todd, sales manager for New England AccuReference Medical Lab. “We encourage people to come by and find out their status to keep making sure our loved ones are safe. All information is confidential, and you will get results in just minutes.”
The City of Pawtucket, in addition to providing testing, will also be distributing masks, providing COVID-19 information, and registering residents for vaccination clinics at this weekend’s site. Grebien noted that flyers in multiple languages will be distributed in the surrounding neighborhoods.
“We want to encourage residents to continue getting tested and want to make sure we take the opportunity to encourage them to get vaccinated as well,” said Pawtucket Health and Equity Leader Elizabeth Moreira.
The City continues to anticipate having Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson in upcoming vaccine clinics in and encourages residents to visit the Pawtucket website at www.PawtucketRI.com/Covid19 to see any available clinics and to fill out the Request for Information form to be notified when clinics become available. The website is updated 7 days a week when a clinic is opened.
