NEW BEDFORD ARTS MUSEUM

COMMUNITY ARTIST IN RESIDENCE (CAIR)

December 4, 2020-February 14, 2021

We are thrilled to introduce the inaugural NBAM Community Artist in Residence….Dawn Spears!

Dawn Spears (Narragansett/Choctaw) is a doll maker, photographer, multimedia artist, who uses cultural symbolism and the vibrant colors of our natural world as inspiration for her work. Visit an exhibition of Dawn’s work at the museum and check our social media every Friday for posts from Dawn herself.

NBAM’s CAIR Program creates an access point for community members to engage more deeply with NBAM and the Downtown Seaport Cultural District. The Program offers local artists space, time, and resources to develop their work. Local organizations nominate CAIR artists. Spears is nominated by the Tomaquag Museum , with the residency sponsored by the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park
