Annual Meeting and Holiday Greetings
Good Morning Friends of the Ten Mile and Bucklin Brook,
Surprisingly we once again find ourselves at the end of another year. The longest year in history but still, here we are. Despite 2020 being insanely ridiculous, we managed to get a lot accomplished. We held several cleanups, walks, and took on the entire Bucklin Brook Watershed. In addition, we assisted some friends in getting a new group formed on the nearby Runnins River and helped launch the Runnins River Watershed Alliance. It was all done with your help and support. Thank you!
When covid first started coming out in our area in March, we had to change the way we operated to ensure the safety of our members and volunteers. Just like any other business, we adjusted to continue doing what we do. If you had told me then we would still be distancing in January, I wouldn’t have believed it. But here we are. January’s meeting is coming, and we are not going to be able to meet in person. This is our annual meeting and it will be a zoom meeting. A link will be coming, simply click on the link to join by computer or call the phone number provided to join by phone.
We will take attendance and vote on things the same as if we were in person. This is our member meeting so the invite is being sent to all. If you would like to be part of it and are not a current board member, respond to this email and I will send you the link.
At this meeting, we will need to elect our 2021 Board of Directors. If you would like to serve on the board, please respond to this email by 12/31/2020 and you will be nominated for the position that you ask for.. For officer positions, our bylaws state that current board members will be nominated first and general public can be nominated in the absence of available board members.
One office position is available and that is for treasurer.
Please help us out by volunteering. If you are a 2020 board member and would like to step down, please respond to this email and we will look to fill that spot.
The link for this meeting as well as the minutes from the September meeting and the agenda will be emailed on January 4th.
The meeting will take place on January 6th at 6:00 PM. The link will only be sent to the current board, board nominees and members that have stated that they will be attending. All 2020 board positions will expire and 2021 will be active when the meeting adjourns.
Sorry, I know that was a lot of information. In closing, I just want to thank you all once again for taking part and keeping us active and successful this year. It was a challenge for sure, but I’m happy to say that we have grown this year as in other years, and that we continue to protect the Ten Mile River and its watershed, as well as nearby Bucklin Brook.
On behalf of our entire organization, I wish you all a happy and safe holiday season. I look forward to seeing you in January.
Ben Cote
