SPECIAL HOLIDAY EDITION

Reserve your space now for a special  Holiday Edition of the KidsEye Virtual Filmmaking Workshop.

The dates are DECEMBER 19, 20, 28, 29 & 30, 2020

This is a free grant-funded workshop and available on a first-come, first served basis.

THE BACKSTORY:

The Flickers’ KidsEye Filmmaking Workshop has just received a stimulus grant to promote community development during the coming weeks leading up to the New Year.  This opportunity offers a unique opportunity for high school, middle school, and college students to learn the ins and outs of film production during their winter break.

Students will work with instructors to write, shoot and edit a short film that will then be showcased as part of RIIFF’s December film event, the Between Takes Film Festival.

The Between Takes Film Festival will compose of an international showcase of work by filmmakers made during the Covid-19 lockdown.  The work made by the students as part of this special Holiday Film Workshop will be featured alongside these films made by artists from across the globe.

This virtual workshop will explore the possibilities of making moving images with readily available cameras found at home (cellphones).  The goal of the workshop is to teach students the necessary elements needed to construct a story visually.  Image composition, natural lighting, sound design, and editing are all important components that will be covered during the week-long workshop.

At the conclusion of the 5-day program, students will have completed a short film that they will be able to use as a portfolio piece when looking to further their film education or search for roles within the creative industry.

The goal of this workshop is to introduce students to the possibilities of filmmaking as a form of creative expression using the resources already available to them. There is no better time than now to spark a lifelong passion in filmmaking.

Over the coming weeks, we will be offering three online classes. Each will be limited to 10  students.
